I have been using the Amazon Kindle reading system since I got hold of their 3rd generation version at the end of August last year. The idea of reading books electronically really did not appeal to me. Initially I went to the Amazon site to research their readers with a view to rubbishing them. At the time, my father had been talking about the Kindle readers and said he was thinking of getting one. I didn’t want him to waste his money so went looking for reasons for him not to get one. The only “problem” was that the more research I did, the more the Kindle looked like an attractive purchase. Was I just falling for marketing spin or was there more to the Kindle than I first suspected?
Things that attracted me to the device was not so much the sales copy but rather that the vast majority of real customer reviews were saying positive things. I also discovered that the Amazon Kindle reading system gives users the chance to download out of copyright books for free. The Kindle handset is itself not particularly cheap but the amount of money that I have saved since September 2010, getting books for free, has more than made up for what I paid for the device itself.
Now a days I am totally hooked to Amazon’s hand held reading system. This is why I will be first in line when the new Kindle 4 reader is released. There are so many new features that I am hoping to be able to use. For instance, it is commonly expected that the 4th generation reader will have a color screen. This is one reason why I am considering choosing the larger DX style reader. In addition to this, it might also have a touch screen.
The cost of the Kindle 4 doesn’t worry me too much. I know that I will easily make my money back through downloading classic out of copyright titles.
