Why DIY Wireless Alarms Are Better Than The Alternative

If you want to install your own security system to save on installation costs, then you’ll want to go with a wireless system as opposed to a wired system.

The wired security system is more complex and will require a lot of drilling and running wires around your home. You many also need to connect it directly to an electric supply by means other than a plug. For DIY lovers this is fine, but for the vast majority of the human race, we just want a simple alarm system that is easy to install and use.

If that sounds like you, then you should opt for one of the many wireless home security system kits currently available in the market.

A good example of one of these wireless home security system kits is the GE 51107 alarm. The GE 51107 comes with a door alarm, three window alarms and a keypad for arming and disarming the system. There are no wires to worry about as the alarm kit is completely wireless and runs on batteries. It’s a good idea to check batteries maybe once a week just to ensure the system is operating correctly. While this may sound like a bit of a nuisance, just think about how much you’re saving with this type of alarm system compared to a residential alarm monitoring service that bills customers by the month. So a little hassle will save you a lot of money over the long-term.

These alarms are extremely inexpensive, less than $30 in fact, but don’t be fooled by the low ticket price. Once activated the 120 decibel alarm would wake the dead! Any burglar in his right mind will be high-tailing it down the street before you have your bedside lamp on. You’re next door neighbors will probably be woken too by the high pitched siren so there will be plenty of eyes behind twitching curtains, something burglars hate.

So if you’re determined to install your own alarm system, get something like the GE 51107 or similar, as many of them don’t even require drilling to install them, they come with strong sticky-back tape and can simply be stuck into place.
