Sorting out who the photographer should be is more important than what the photographer costs.  This goes counter to how most couples pursue securing their wedding photographer for their one and only wedding day.  Of course, with wedding fees soaring, especially with wedding photography prices, it’s no wonder so many couples search for cheap wedding photographers or discount wedding photography.  The problem is, when you scrape the bottom of the barrel, you are furthest away from the cream of the crop, which usually rises to the top.

So, before a couple simply weighs out who costs what, they should take the time to consider who they are hiring.  Focusing on the work of the photographer, their style, their abilities, should come first.  After finding a few professionals that hit home with their style, ones that couples look at and think, “Man, I would love to have my wedding pictures looking like this!” the next step is to focus on the personality of the photographer.

If the bride or groom does not get along with the photographer at the initial consultation, they could be in for a terrible ride on their wedding day!  This person will be interacting, directing, and bossing around you and your entire family and wedding party, so it is imperative that they have a great personality and know how to lead people into poses without coming across short or gruff.

Once you find someone with the proper talent and the right personality, now you can look at what their fees are.  You might find their prices a bit higher than you thought, but understand that the extra you spend will be well worth it.  Just as the bride’s mother will most likely not scrimp on her mother of the bride outfits, because of how important it is to her, you too, should not scrimp on your wedding photography.
