Maintenance Tips For White Dressers and Chests

It is common knowledge that any object with a white color is difficult to maintain. It can get dirty and grimy easily. Stains are not easily camouflaged. Needless to say, white objects are high maintenance. If you have white dressers and chests at home, you would want to learn a thing or two about how you can maintain it and how you can add more years to its life without the chest or the drawer turning dingy or yellow.

Before anything else, you have to spot an ideal location for your white dressers and chests. It is imperative that you avoid placing it where it can be directly hit by the sun. The sun’s UV rays can damage the coating or the finishing of the furniture and the white color can easily turn yellow. When using the top portion of the drawer as a place to store your decorations such as a flower vase or a figurine, you might want to place a narrow layer of cloth first over the white dressers and chests that you have in your home. The bottom part of the flower vase can discolour the surface of the furniture. The narrow layer of cloth you will add as an accent will help prevent this from happening.

Regularly clean the white dressers and chests. If there are stains, remove them immediately. Look for a polisher that will work on white-colored furniture. Use a soft cloth to apply the product on the stained area. To clean the drawers, use a vacuum cleaner with a high efficiency particulate air filter. This will work better in removing invisible dirt particles that may have collected in the narrow corners of the drawer. Make sure you check out the wheels of the drawers as well. See to it that they can be pulled off with a hitch. If the wheels are resisting, you might have to put a lubricant on them. If the wheels track is turning rusty, replace it with a new one. If you have kids at home, ask them not to play with your dresser. If they draw on the white dressers and chests using crayons and other coloring materials, you might have a hard time removing them.
